TWB Tasting Notes:
Nose: An inviting bouquet of rich honeyed malt and stewed orchard fruits—think apples and pears—greets the senses. Layers of dried apricots, sultanas, and a touch of orange zest add depth. The extended maturation in a refill hogshead imparts subtle oak influences, with notes of toasted almonds, vanilla pod, and gentle spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. Hints of heather and a delicate floral note weave through, embodying the distillery's Highland character.
Palate: Elegantly smooth and full-bodied, the palate showcases a harmonious blend of sweet and spicy elements. Initial flavors of creamy toffee, butterscotch, and honey intertwine with ripe stone fruits such as peaches and nectarines. The oak influence introduces soft tannins and a whisper of dark chocolate. Subtle spice notes of ginger and white pepper emerge, balanced by a nutty undertone reminiscent of walnut and hazelnut. A trace of herbal freshness adds complexity, enhancing the whisky's layered profile.
Finish: Long, warm, and satisfying, the finish lingers with notes of sweet malt, gentle oak, and a hint of dried fruit sweetness. Soft spices and a mild earthy undertone fade gracefully, leaving a pleasant, slightly dry aftertaste that invites another sip.
