Tasting Notes

Nose: Red-berry jam and rose-hip syrup swirl with toffee apple, roasted hazelnut and a hint of cinnamon-dusted cocoa. Palate: Velvety waves of black-forest gateau, chewy malt and treacle toffee glide over the tongue, followed by flashes of raspberry coulis, clove and a subtle liquorice twist. Finish: Medium-long, warming and gently drying—lingering port-soaked fruitcake, soft oak tannin and a final flourish of nutty chocolate.

Dive into Highland richness with Blair Athol 13 Year Old – 2011 Vintage, Signatory Cask Strength. Initially matured in American oak, this robust Pitlochry malt received a vibrant finishing spell in a 1st-fill Ruby Port Hogshead (Cask #6) before bottling at natural cask strength in April 2025. The luscious Port wood drapes Blair Athol’s nutty, malty core in layers of berry compôte, dark chocolate and gentle spice. Released non-chill-filtered and natural in colour, only 310 individually numbered bottles capture this limited marriage of Highland heft and Portuguese wine finesse.

Why We Think You’ll Love It:

  • Finished in a generous 1st-fill Ruby Port hogshead, weaving vibrant berry sweetness through Blair Athol’s sturdy Highland malt.

  • 13 years of maturation strike the ideal balance of youthful energy, wine-cask opulence and developing spice.

  • Bottled at natural cask strength, non-chill-filtered and natural colour for full texture, aroma and intensity.

  • Strictly limited to 310 bottles, making it a coveted Highland gem for collectors and Port-cask aficionados.

Savour this small-batch Blair Athol for a captivating union of nutty malt, ruby-red fruit and warming spice—an unforgettable dram from first nose to lingering farewell.

The Distillery

Blair Athol
Blair Athol Distillery, established in 1798 in Pitlochry, ranks among the oldest working malt whisky producers in Scotland, spanning four centuries of whisky craftsmanship. Acquired by Arthur Bell & Sons in 1933, it is celebrated as the spiritual home of Bell’s blended Scotch whisky, offering a distillery visitor centre and tours for an immersive experience. Although most of Blair Athol’s malt whisky is destined for Bell’s blends, dedicated whisky enthusiasts can still savor the distillery’s character through independent bottlings, notably in the Connoisseurs Choice and Signatory Vintage ranges—ensuring Blair Athol’s revered legacy continues to captivate Scotch connoisseurs worldwide.
