Tasting Notes

Nose: Lovely rich Oloroso sherry aromas, raisins, a whiff of walnuts and toffee pudding with a hint of chocolate. Palate: Rich, sweet and smooth sherry flavours with some dark chocolate, coffee and dried black fruit and a hint of liquorice and pepper. Finish: Quite rich, nutty, warming, soft and long.

Bladnoch 15 Year Old Adela Lowland single malt Scotch whisky. Mature on Oloroso sherry casks. Inaugural limited release bottled 2016 under the new ownership of David Prior and created by Bladnoch master distiller Ian MacMillan.

The Distillery

Bladnoch Distillery, founded in 1817 by brothers John and Thomas McClelland, is a historic Lowlands single malt whisky distillery located on the northern bank of the River Bladnoch, near Bladnoch Bridge and just upstream from Wigtown in southwest Scotland. Equipped with two small stills, this intimate operation has experienced multiple closures over the years, most recently in 2009, but is undergoing extensive refurbishment with a re-opening planned for late 2016. Known for producing distinctive Lowlands single malt, Bladnoch whiskies are also available through independent bottlers, including Gordon & MacPhail and the Old Malt Cask range from Hunter Laing, ensuring continued interest in this storied distillery’s unique contributions to Scottish whisky heritage.
