Benrinnes 1976 vintage Connoisseurs Choice single malt Scotch whisky. Matured in first fill and refill sherry casks. Distilled March 1976 and bottled August 2010 by Gordon & MacPhail. Benrinnes Benrinnes Distillery was established by Peter Mackenzie in 1826 on the north-west shoulder of Ben Rinns Mountain and until the advent of modern road transport systems Benrinnes Distillery was rather isolated.  Only a small percentage of Benrinnes malt whisky is released as Benrinnes single malt including Benrinnes Flora & Fauna. Since 1956 distillation at Benrinnes followed an unusual and complex partial triple distillation process but this was replaced by double distillation around 2010.  Benrinnes Distillery is one of the few Scottish distilleries continuing to cool its spirit in traditional worm tubs and is a participant in the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival. Nose: Initial Sherry notes, some hints of rum and raisin emerge. A subtle vanilla note develops with hints of toasted almonds. Palate: Heavy Sherry influences, some nutty overtones. Smooth and mouth warming. Fruity - cooked plums and red berries.

The Distillery

Benrinnes
Benrinnes Distillery is a Speyside Scotch whisky gem situated at the foot of Ben Rinnes near Aberlour, drawing its name from the towering mountain that shapes the region’s cool microclimate. Established in the 19th century and now part of the Diageo portfolio, Benrinnes boasts a distinctive partial triple distillation process that imparts its single malts with a rich, meaty character balanced by subtle sweetness. While much of its production contributes to some of Scotland’s most notable blended whiskies, limited single malt releases—including those in Diageo’s Flora & Fauna range and various independent bottlings—showcase the distillery’s robust and complex flavor profile. Ideal for both Speyside whisky enthusiasts and collectors seeking rare expressions, Benrinnes exemplifies the craftsmanship, tradition, and terroir that define this storied region’s global reputation for fine Scotch whisky.
