2nd expression of Solstice from Benriach distillery in Speyside. Solstice 17 year old is a heavily peated single malt Scotch matured in Portwood. Limited edition. Benriach John Duff commissioned the Elgin based architect Charles C. Doig to design Benriach Distillery which was duly established in 1898 just south of Elgin and complete with a siding connecting Benriach Distillery directly to the great North of Scotland Railway and the scotch blenders down south. But Benriach Distillery opened just as the whisky bubble burst and was forced to closed in 1900 and remained closed until 1965. Benriach’s maltings did continued to operate but finally closed in 1999. An iconic Scottish malt whisky distillery complete with a Doig pagoda roof over the malt kiln. The Benriach Distillery range includes limited releases of triple distilled, peated and un-peated single malt whiskies. Benriach Distillery participates in the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival Nose: Fabulous aroma of stewed summer berries including strawberries, blackcurrants and red currants. The berry component is richly locked together by a muscular peaty blast. Latter traces of fortified wine and grape like qualities become apparent. Palate: Initially dry roasted nutty flavours flow over the palate. This advances to become a heavy peaty affair. Subtle notes of dried raisins and candied fruit. Clean and very enticing with the dominant peat flavours lingering on the palate. Smooth and very long.

Benriach
Benriach Distillery was founded in 1898 by John Duff just south of Elgin in Scotland’s esteemed Speyside whisky region, complete with a dedicated siding to the Great North of Scotland Railway. Despite having to close in 1900, Benriach’s traditional floor maltings—featuring a classic pagoda roof—continued to operate until 1999, preserving a vital link to the distillery’s heritage. Reopening in 1965 and later fully revived in 2004, Benriach has since developed an extensive range of single malt Scotch whiskies, beginning with its Benriach 10 Year Old, a 16 Year Old expression, and vintage cask releases dating back to the 1970s. Now owned by Brown-Forman of America, Benriach remains a pillar of Speyside whisky tradition, admired by enthusiasts worldwide for its innovative spirit and enduring commitment to craftsmanship.
