Tasting Notes

Nose: A fresh and lively combination of crisp, green orchard fruits, stem ginger and hints of tangerine mellows to creamy vanilla with a delicate note of mint and a gentle twist of citrus; all held together with a sweet barley back note. Palate: Warm toasted oak spices flood through green apple skins and dried apricots, ripening to hints of peach and soft banana. Subtle touches of aniseed and lemon zest create a contrasting edge to the fruit and add an intriguing character to the long, crisp barley finish.

The Distillery

Benriach Distillery was founded in 1898 by John Duff just south of Elgin in Scotland’s esteemed Speyside whisky region, complete with a dedicated siding to the Great North of Scotland Railway. Despite having to close in 1900, Benriach’s traditional floor maltings—featuring a classic pagoda roof—continued to operate until 1999, preserving a vital link to the distillery’s heritage. Reopening in 1965 and later fully revived in 2004, Benriach has since developed an extensive range of single malt Scotch whiskies, beginning with its Benriach 10 Year Old, a 16 Year Old expression, and vintage cask releases dating back to the 1970s. Now owned by Brown-Forman of America, Benriach remains a pillar of Speyside whisky tradition, admired by enthusiasts worldwide for its innovative spirit and enduring commitment to craftsmanship.
