Single cask #900021. A 13-year old cask strength bottling from the classic Highland malt whisky distillery situated in Fort William.
Ben Nevis Distillery is a Highland distillery situated at Inverlochy just north of Fort William on the west coast of Scotland and rests at the foot of Ben Nevis, Scotland’s highest mountain. Ben Nevis Distillery was established by John McDonald in 1825 and in order to meet the demand for fine Ben Nevis Highland malt whisky the Nevis Distillery was established in 1878. Nevis Distillery closed in 1908. A Coffey’s Still was installed in Ben Nevis Distillery in 1955 and both malt and grain whiskies were produced simultaneously until 1981. Ben Nevis Distillery welcomes visitors at the distillery visitor centre and offers tours of the distillery.
The nose of this fine 13-year-old Malt is very expressive, giving citrus, honey, coffee and nuts with some toasted oak. To taste there is a progressive build up of creamy malt, more nuttiness and sustained rich fruitiness. The finish offers a little dark toffee.
