Tasting Notes

Nose: Billows of black-cherry compôte, violet and sea-spray mingle with raisin loaf, cocoa powder and a whisper of cracked pepper. Palate: Silky floods of toffee cream, malt loaf and blackcurrant jam coat the tongue, chased by clove-spiked chocolate, balsamic glaze and a bright lift of candied citrus peel. Finish: Long, warming and gently drying—lingering cherry liqueur, soft oak spice and a final flourish of mineral peat smoke.
Experience Highland heft draped in Italian dessert-wine decadence with Ben Nevis 13 Year Old – 2011 Vintage, Alistair Walker “Infrequent Flyers” (Cask #805913). Distilled beneath Britain’s highest peak and laid to rest in a single Recioto della Valpolicella–seasoned hogshead, this small-batch malt soaked up waves of dark-berry richness and soft spice from the sweet Venetian red wine. Bottled at natural cask strength in March 2025, non-chill-filtered and natural in colour, only 299 bottles capture Ben Nevis’s muscular, faintly coastal malt wrapped in plush cherry-chocolate opulence.

Why We Think You’ll Love It

  • Full-term maturation in a rare Recioto della Valpolicella hogshead infuses dark-berry sweetness, chocolate depth and subtle wine tannin.

  • 13 years balance Ben Nevis’s weighty Highland malt and faint coastal edge with dessert-wine elegance.

  • Bottled at natural cask strength (non-chill-filtered, natural colour) for undiluted texture, aroma and intensity.

  • Part of Alistair Walker’s sought-after “Infrequent Flyers” series—strictly 299 bottles, perfect for collectors and flavour explorers seeking a one-of-a-kind wine-cask Highland dram.

Pour a dram of this distinctive Ben Nevis and savour an exhilarating union of muscular malt, Italian sweet-wine opulence and subtle coastal smoke—an unforgettable whisky that soars long after the final sip.
