This Banff 40 Year Old 1975 is an exceptionally rare Highland single malt Scotch whisky, drawn from a single refill hogshead cask and bottled in July 2016 by Hunter Laing & Co. for the prestigious Old & Rare Platinum Selection. Distilled at the now-silent Banff distillery, this 1975 vintage whisky is a true collector’s gem—only 122 individually numbered bottles were produced. Bottled at natural cask strength, non-chill filtered, and natural in colour, it represents one of the finest and final echoes of this lost Highland malt.

Why We Think You’ll Love It

  • A 40-year-old single malt from the closed Banff distillery—an exceedingly rare Highland dram.

  • From a single refill hogshead, bottled at natural cask strength.

  • Part of Hunter Laing’s prestigious Old & Rare Platinum Selection.

  • Just 122 bottles released worldwide—true collector's status.

  • Uncoloured and non-chill filtered to preserve its full vintage character.

A hauntingly beautiful relic of Scotch whisky history—this Banff is a toast to time itself.

Tasting Notes

This golden whisky has mossy notes on the nose with a sweet, peppery, medicinal tinge to it. The palate is light and smooth with green apples dominating, although the slightly bitter grass and moss notes are still present. The finish is light and smooth with a continuing green, vegetal influence
