Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch 2 Speyside single malt Scotch whisky. This release has been created using 32 casks, 23 of which were American oak and 9 were European sherry.

Balvenie

William Grant converted the ruins of Balvenie House into Balvenie malt whisky distillery in 1892 in order to meet the global demand for William Grant’s Scottish Speyside malt whisky and blended scotch. Balvenie Distillery is situated near Balvenie Castle and the River Fiddich in Scotland’s Speyside whisky region and is one of the few Scottish distilleries to malt barley on its own malt floors and to dry its malted barley over a peat fire in its own malt kiln. Visitors can enjoy an in-depth Balvenie scotch whisky experience and distillery tour. Balvenie Distillery is also a participant in the popular Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.

A soft, rich aroma, with ripe plums and prunes, topped by an intriguing fragrant note – rose water, scented hand-cream – and enlivened by a fresh, nose-cooling squeeze of orange zest. Joined by vanilla ice cream after a while. Deliciously feminine. The taste is sweet, fragrant and tannic, with white pepper and light, creamy vanilla; a lengthy finish. At (slightly) reduced strength the aroma is unchanged; if anything, the taste characteristics are exaggerated.
