Balblair 18 Year Old is a refined and expressive Highland single malt Scotch whisky, matured first in American oak ex-bourbon casks before a luxurious secondary maturation in first-fill Spanish oak butts. This carefully layered cask regime brings together Balblair’s trademark orchard-fruit elegance with rich sherry depth, delivering a whisky full of maturity, warmth, and Highland character.

Why We Think You’ll Love It

  • Matured initially in American oak ex-bourbon casks for sweetness and purity

  • Finished in first-fill Spanish oak butts for added richness and complexity

  • A sophisticated Highland malt combining fruit, spice, and sherry depth

  • Balblair’s hallmark balance of smoothness and structure

  • Ideal for fans of elegant, well-matured single malts with sherried influence

The Balblair 18 Year Old is a beautifully crafted whisky that showcases the distillery’s commitment to slow maturation and layered cask influence. With its seamless blend of fruity Highland character and sherried richness, it stands as one of Balblair’s most impressive age-statement expressions.

The Distillery

Balblair
Founded by John Ross in 1790 at Balblair Farm, just west of Ederton on the southern shore of the Dornoch Firth, Balblair Distillery is a renowned Scottish Highland malt whisky producer with historical roots tracing back to 1749, when distillation was likely already in progress. In 1894, Balblair relocated to its current site adjacent to Ederton Railway Station, where it has preserved its historic architecture, including a distinctive round red brick chimney, a single pagoda roof, and traditional dunnage warehouses. Known for its dedication to quality and traditional craftsmanship, Balblair Distillery excels in producing exceptional single malt Scotch whisky. The acclaimed Balblair Vintage series features single malts aged from the 1970s to the 2000s, showcasing the distillery’s ability to create rich and complex flavors. Today, Balblair Distillery stands as a fantastic example of Highland whisky heritage, attracting whisky enthusiasts and collectors worldwide with its enduring legacy and superior single malts.
