Tasting Notes

Nose: Nutty, spicy, intense with hints of aniseed and patchouli. Smoky, herbal notes, and an impression of oily smoke. With a splash of water more of the classic Ardbeg ‘fennel/herbal/pine’ top notes. Palate: Oily spicy mouthfeel with a burst of antiseptic lozenges, tar, liquorice, clovepepper. This is then followed by some sweet smoke like briar or sandalwood. Finish: A long, but subtle, sooty, tarry aftertaste.
Summon the fiery spirit of Islay with Ardbeg Scorch – Committee Release 2021, a limited-edition bottling unleashed for Fèis Ìle 2021 (Ardbeg Day). Forged in fiercely charred ex-Ardbeg “Alligator” casks, this whisky channels dragon-worthy levels of peat smoke, crackling oak and sweet, spiced embers. Bottled at an uncompromising 51.7 % ABV and left non-chill-filtered, Scorch delivers an incendiary dram worthy of the most devoted Ardbeg Committee members.

Why We Think You’ll Love It:

  • A Committee-only release for Fèis Ìle 2021, bottled at a robust 51.7 % ABV for maximum impact.

  • Matured in intensely charred ex-Ardbeg Alligator casks, amplifying notes of smoke, spice and caramelised oak.

  • Non-chill-filtered, preserving the whisky’s full body and richly scorched character.

  • Perfect for peat aficionados seeking Ardbeg at its most smoky, spicy and dramatic—a collectible dram that truly lives up to its fiery name.

The Distillery

Ardbeg
Established in 1815 by John McDougal, Ardbeg Distillery is located on the Kildalton Peninsula of the Isle of Islay—a region celebrated for its peaty single malts. Drawing soft, peaty water from Loch Uigeadail and Loch Airigh nam Beist in the hills behind the distillery, Ardbeg crafts an iconic range of whiskies, including the highly regarded Ardbeg Uigeadail and Ardbeg 10 Year Old. Each year, Ardbeg takes part in the Feis Ile, the island’s world-renowned Festival of Malt and Music, welcoming visitors to its distillery tours and the Old Kiln Café, which serves mouthwatering Scottish fare. Immerse yourself in Ardbeg’s rich heritage and discover why it remains a standout name among Islay single malt whisky distilleries.
