Tasting Notes

Nose: Explosive bonfire smoke and charred espresso bean, pierced by notes of aniseed twists, lime zest, and a whiff of vinyl record sleeves. Palate: A power-chord of tarry peat, dark cocoa, and burnt sugar syrup surges forward, followed by crunchy malt biscuit, candied ginger, and black liquorice laces. Finish: Long, dry, and ashy—fading embers, cracked black pepper, and a cheeky flash of sugary cola cubes linger on a salty sea-spray breeze.
Turn the volume up to 11 with Ardbeg Ardcore – Committee Release 2022, a riotous single malt distilled from heavily roasted “black” malt barley—a first for Ardbeg. Aged in classic ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at a punch-packing 50.1 % ABV, Ardcore cranks out leather-clad peat, bittersweet malt, and spiky confectionery sweetness that hits like a front-row guitar riff. Created “for the ard-core of Islay” and released exclusively to the Ardbeg Committee, this limited edition channels punk-rock attitude

Why We Think You’ll Love It:

  • Uses roasted black malt for a bold, bittersweet backbone that’s unlike any other Ardbeg.

  • Bottled for the Ardbeg Committee at a robust 50.1 % ABV, non-chill-filtered for full, gritty texture.

  • Marries classic Islay peat with punk-rock flavours of dark roast coffee, liquorice, and burnt sugar.

  • A limited, collectible release perfect for peat heads seeking something raw, rebellious, and undeniably Ard-core.

 into every smoky, sticky-sweet drop.

The Distillery

Ardbeg
Established in 1815 by John McDougal, Ardbeg Distillery is located on the Kildalton Peninsula of the Isle of Islay—a region celebrated for its peaty single malts. Drawing soft, peaty water from Loch Uigeadail and Loch Airigh nam Beist in the hills behind the distillery, Ardbeg crafts an iconic range of whiskies, including the highly regarded Ardbeg Uigeadail and Ardbeg 10 Year Old. Each year, Ardbeg takes part in the Feis Ile, the island’s world-renowned Festival of Malt and Music, welcoming visitors to its distillery tours and the Old Kiln Café, which serves mouthwatering Scottish fare. Immerse yourself in Ardbeg’s rich heritage and discover why it remains a standout name among Islay single malt whisky distilleries.
