Allt-a-Bhainne
Allt-a-Bhainne opened in 1975 to the south west of Dufftown beside the Allt-a-Bhainne Burn to supply light, heathery malt whisky to Chivas blends including Chivas Regal. No official distillery bottling and only a small number of independent ones.
Nose: Custard creams; hints of fennel and allspice. Creme caramel. Some dusty notes with some strawberries coming through. A complex nose that just draws you in.
Palate: Very creamy with growing ever changing fruit bursts; limes, satsumas, peaches and solid toffee give the whole palate a taste treat.
Finish: Develops an effervescent fruitiness mingling in a blanket of thick cream. And soft fruits and maple syrup drizzled all over. This is an amazing little dram that's going to be one of my favourites

The Distillery
Allt-a-Bhainne
Allt-a-Bhainne Distillery, founded in 1975, is a lesser-known Speyside distillery located southwest of Dufftown, at the foot of Ben Rinnes. Drawing its water from the Allt-a-Bhainne Burn, the distillery benefits from the region’s rain and melting snow that naturally flow down the steep slopes of the mountain. Originally designed to produce a light malt for Chivas blends, Allt-a-Bhainne recently expanded its production to include peated whiskies, showcasing its versatility. Despite increasing from two stills to four in 1989, there have been few official distillery bottlings. However, independent bottlings—such as Connoisseurs Choice and First Editions—offer a rare opportunity to experience the unique character of this hidden Speyside gem.
