Lagavulin 8 Year Old 200th Anniversary

Lagavulin 8 Year Old Islay single malt Scotch whisky. 2016 limited edition to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of Lagavulin distillery by John Johnston in 1816. Lagavulin Lagavulin Distillery was established in 1816 by John Johnston on the rocky south coast of the Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland. In 1908 Malt Mill Distillery was built next to Lagavulin Distillery but it closed in 1960 and although some of its buildings remain Malt Mill is now a lost distillery. Lagavulin is a malt whisky distillery which welcomes visitors at the Lagavulin visitor centre and offers distillery tours and participates in Feis Ile, the Islay Festival of Malt and Music, and sponsors the Lagavulin Islay Jazz Festival.  The second maturation in Pedro Ximinez brings a great fruity backbone to this Lagavulin, which balances greatly with the big bold classic smoke you would expect from Islay’s greatest distillery.
