Tasting Notes
Old Pulteney 38 Year Old 1982 Private Collection is an exceptionally rare Highland single malt Scotch whisky, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for their prestigious Private Collection series. Distilled in June 1982 and matured for nearly four decades in a single refill American hogshead (#861), this remarkable whisky was bottled in December 2020 at natural cask strength (57.1% ABV), with just 99 hand-blown crystal decanters produced.
Crafted at the coastal Old Pulteney Distillery, this long-aged expression beautifully captures the distillery’s signature maritime character. Refill American oak maturation allows the spirit’s natural complexity to evolve over time, delivering a refined balance of fruit, subtle spice, and gentle coastal influence.
