글렌에스크
1896년 스코틀랜드의 명성 높은 위스키 산지인 에스크 강변의 옛 아마 표백 공장에 설립된 글렌에스크 증류소는 원래 하이랜드 에스크라는 이름으로 던디의 와인 상인 제임스 잉글스에 의해 세워졌습니다. 이 유서 깊은 증류소는 1938년까지 고품질 몰트 위스키 생산에 주력하다가 코피 증류기를 도입하면서 몬트로즈 증류소로 이름을 바꾸었습니다. 1964년에는 다시 전통적인 포트 스틸을 사용하고 힐사이드 증류소로 이름을 바꿔 4개의 증류기를 운영하다가 1985년에 폐쇄되었습니다. 1996년에 철거된 글렌에스크는 이제 사라진 하이랜드 증류소로 기억되고 있으며, 이곳에서 생산된 희귀한 싱글 몰트 위스키는 고든 앤 맥페일 레어 올드 라인을 통해 높은 평가를 받고 있습니다. 글렌에스크 증류소는 스코틀랜드 위스키 유산의 중요한 부분을 차지하며, 오랜 역사와 하이랜드 몰트 위스키 생산의 풍부한 전통에 대한 기여로 전 세계 위스키 애호가와 수집가들을 매료시키고 있습니다.
