Distilled in 1997 and matured for 26 years in a single Pedro Ximénez puncheon (cask #174), this exceptional release was bottled in February 2024 by the Alistair Walker Whisky Company for their celebrated Infrequent Flyers series. Bottled at a bold 53.8% ABV, just 677 bottles were drawn, capturing a rich, indulgent snapshot of a distillery that no longer exists.

The Distillery

덤바튼 증류소는 1938년 히람 워커가 옛 맥밀런 조선소 부지에 설립한, 스코틀랜드 로우랜드 지역의 곡물 증류소로, 한때 덤바튼의 레븐 강과 클라이드 강변을 장악했던 곳입니다. 신시내티에서 제작된 연속식 증류기를 갖춘 이곳은 스코틀랜드 최대 규모의 곡물 증류소 중 하나로 성장했으며, 주로 옥수수와 로크 로몬드에서 채취한 물을 사용하여 발렌타인 블렌디드 위스키에 사용되는 원액을 생산했습니다. 이처럼 높은 위상에도 불구하고 덤바튼은 2002년에 문을 닫았고, 대부분의 시설은 2008년까지 철거되어 스코틀랜드 로우랜드 위스키 역사의 중요한 한 장으로 남게 되었습니다. 비록 증류소 부지는 더 이상 존재하지 않지만, 헌터 라잉 앤 컴퍼니에서 출시하는 싱글 캐스크 병입 제품들을 통해 덤바튼의 유산은 계속 이어지고 있으며, 스코틀랜드 곡물 위스키 역사에 대한 덤바튼만의 독특한 공헌을 보존하고 있습니다.
