Tamnavulin 25 Year Old 1989 vintage Speyside single malt Scotch whisky. Single refill hogshead #10352 bottled June 2014 by Douglas Laing & Co. for the Director's Cut series. 78 bottles. Tamnavulin Tamnavulin is a Speyside malt whisky distillery and commenced production in 1966. Following closure in 1995 it re-opened in 2007 and now operates with six stills. Tamnavulin sits by the River Livet on the northern edge of the Cairngorm Mountains. NOSE: Opens sweetly spiced (cinnamon?) – carrying a creamy sweet quality of butter caramels.
PALATE: More sweet spices warming to oven baked apples and spiced peaches – tarte tatin style.
FINISH: Long – developing to an attractive butterscotch and vanilla character with lingering sweet spices.

The Distillery

Tamnavulin Distillery, nestled in the valley of the River Livet on the northern edge of the Cairngorm Mountains, was established in 1965, with production beginning in 1966. As a Speyside malt whisky distillery, much of its whisky is crafted for blending, with its six stills producing spirit for renowned Scotch blends. After closing in 1995, Tamnavulin re-opened in 2007, reviving its legacy but creating a temporary scarcity of aged single malts. Today, its offerings are gradually expanding, gaining recognition for their smooth and approachable Speyside character.
