Laphroaig 24 Year Old 1990 Old & Rare

Laphroaig 24 Year Old 1990 Vintage Islay single malt Scotch whisky. Single cask refill hogshead bottled July 2014 by Hunter Laing & Co. for the Old & Rare Platimum Selection. 285 bottles. Laphroaig Laphroaig Distillery was established in 1815 on the rocky south coast of the Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland. Laphroaig is a malt whisky distillery which continues to malt barley using its traditional malting floors and malt kiln. In 1994 Laphroaig was awarded the Royal Warrant. Visitors are welcomed at the Laphroaig Distillery visitor centre where distillery tours are available. Laphroaig Distillery participates in Feis Ile, the Islay Festival of Malt and Music.  This pale golden coloured whisky has a robust, full-bodied nose, with sweet vanilla honey giving way to the peat and seaweed character associated with Islay. A sweet, creamy mouthfeel is followed by a slight tongue prickle with stewed rhubarb, burnt toffee and notes of rubber before the peat and seaweed again take over. Finally we are left with a lingering dry finish of peat and oak.
