Glenburgie-Glenlivet 23 Year Old 1992 vintage Speyside single malt Scotch whisky. Matured in bourbon hogsheads, bottled 2015 by Cadenhead's for the Small Batch series. 456 bottles. Glenburgie Glenburgie Distillery was established near Forres in Scotland’s Speyside whisky region by John Paul in 1829. Equipped with two pot stills until 1958 when two Lomond stills were installed and two malt whiskies were produced, Glenburgie from the pot stills and Glencraig from the Lomond stills. The Lomond stills were removed in 1981 and replaced with two pot stills. Glenburgie Distillery is now producing malt whisky from pot six stills. Nose: Sweet and grassy; very fresh. Melon; fresh mint leaves; clementines and lime leaves are flowing from the dram as soon as you open this bottle. In the glass they truly open up perfectly.
Palate: Gooseberries; kiwi fruits; whole limes and dried bananas. Some celery salt and then some soft brown sugar.
Finish: A soft but long finish. Very floral with light zesty fruits. A fresh and vibrant whisky with a great age comes a great taste.

The Distillery

Glenburgie
Glenburgie Distillery, originally established as Kilnflat Distillery by John Paul in 1829 west of Forres within Scotland’s prestigious Speyside whisky region, boasts a rich heritage in malt whisky production. Initially equipped with two pot stills, Glenburgie expanded in 1958 by adding two Lomond stills, enabling the creation of two distinct malt whiskies: Glenburgie from the pot stills and Glencraig from the Lomond stills. In 1981, the Lomond stills were removed and replaced with two additional pot stills, bringing the total to six pot stills today. Currently, Glenburgie focuses on producing high-quality malt whisky primarily for esteemed Chivas blends, solidifying its role in the blended Scotch market. While official distillery releases remain limited, Glenburgie’s single malts are highly sought after through independent bottlers such as Gordon & MacPhail, providing whisky enthusiasts and collectors with access to this historic Speyside distillery’s exceptional expressions. As a key player in the Speyside malt whisky landscape, Glenburgie Distillery continues to uphold its legacy of craftsmanship and quality, making it a revered name in Scotland’s renowned whisky industry.
