In honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee (1952 - 2012) Gordon & MacPhail have selected a sixty year old Glen Grant Scotch from a single first fill Oloroso sherry hogshead cask number 465.
Filled 2nd February 1952 and bottled 2nd February 2012. Only 85 decanters have been bottled each individually numbered. We will supply bottle number 8.
The decanter and stopper are designed by Glencairn Crystal and engraved with a unique number. Two pieces of silver adorn the decanter creating by Scottish Silver is an Edinburgh. The box is made from Scottish Elm, felled a short distance from Holyrood House, the Queen's official Scottish residence and lined with purple Harris Tweed. Each decanter includes a certificate individually numbered and signed by Michael Urquhart, Joint Managing Director at Gordon & MacPhail.
Glen Grant
Glen Grant Distillery is a Speyside malt whisky distillery situated in Rothes. Established in 1840 by brothers James and John Grant, the business prospered and in 1897 Glen Grant No. 2 distillery was established across the road in order to meet the high demand for Glen Grant whisky. During the late nineteenth century a Victorian garden was laid out in the valley behind the distillery and is now open to distillery visitors. Glen Grant Distillery has a visitor centre and offers distillery tours. Glen Grant Distillery participates in the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.
After maturing slowly for sixty years the result is a beautifully balanced Single Malt with poise and great complexity. The introduction to the whisky is one of fresh fruit and spices – aromas of Cox’s Pippins and Granny Smith apples, laced with cinnamon and root ginger.
