Tasting Notes

Aroma of sweet and spiced, elegant aromatic smoke and toasted warmth. Fragrance of honey, lemon and mint humbugs combine with lavender and sea spray. On the palate peat smokes makes a dominant entrance, smoky charcoal and salty menthol-eucalyptus lozenges. Treacle toffee apples and cinnamon spiced pears. The finish is long with bittersweet liquorice and honey, cinnamon and cloves.
Celebrate Islay festival flair with Ardbeg 10 Year Old – 1998 Vintage, Single Cask #1190 “Toasted Oak” (Feis Ìle 2009 Release). Filled on 4 December 1998 into a bespoke new toasted-oak hogshead and nursed in Warehouse 2, this whisky was drawn at natural cask strength on 10 December 2008, then reserved for the following spring’s festival. Only 282 individually numbered bottles—each bearing the 2009 Feis Ìle crest—capture Ardbeg’s trademark tarry peat wrapped in vanilla-cream sweetness, charred-oak spice and zesty citrus at full ten-year vibrancy.

Why We Think You’ll Love It

  • Single toasted-oak hogshead (#1190) layers creamy vanilla, coconut and vibrant spice onto Ardbeg’s maritime peat.

  • Bottled at natural cask strength (non-chill-filtered, natural colour) for undiluted Islay intensity.

  • 10 years capture Ardbeg’s spirit at peak youthful vigour while showcasing refined toasted-cask sweetness.

  • Exclusive Feis Ìle 2009 release—strictly 282 bottles, a coveted festival collectible.

  • Exemplifies Ardbeg’s signature balance of briny smoke, orchard freshness and bourbon-style vanilla in a unique single-cask snapshot.

Pour a dram of Cask #1190 and savour an exhilarating union of coastal peat, toasted-oak creaminess and citrus brightness—an unforgettable whisky that blazes from first nosing to lingering ember.
