Tasting Notes

Nose A haunting mix of old leather, dried mango, tobacco leaf, and antique oak, with hints of sea breeze, earthy peat, and dark chocolate. Palate Incredibly refined—treacle tart, briny smoke, and dates meld with toasted walnut, gentle spice, and echoes of dunnage warehouse mustiness. Finish Long and dignified—embered peat, molasses, and seaside salt linger in perfect harmony.

The Distillery

Bowmore
Bowmore Distillery, founded by David Simpson in 1779 on the shores of Loch Indaal on the Isle of Islay, is recognized as one of the oldest working distilleries on Islay and among the earliest malt whisky distilleries in Scotland. Renowned for its dedication to traditional production methods, Bowmore still malts a portion of its barley on heritage malting floors and uses its own malt kilns—a practice that contributes to its distinct Islay single malt character. Actively participating in Feis Ile, the annual Islay Festival of Malt and Music, Bowmore offers special bottlings during this vibrant celebration, further cementing its reputation among whisky enthusiasts. Popular official releases include the Bowmore 12 Year Old, 15 Year Old, and 25 Year Old, each showcasing the distillery’s hallmark fusion of peat smoke and maritime influence that has made Bowmore an essential name in Scotch whisky history.
