Auchroisk This Is Like Spectacular 10 Year Old 2010 is a bold and characterful Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, created to commemorate a pivotal moment in space exploration—the launch of Apollo 9 on March 3rd, 1969, the first full flight of an Apollo spacecraft carrying both the Lunar Module and the Command and Service Module.
This historic mission proved that astronauts could transfer between spacecraft in orbit, paving the way for the first lunar landings. During the mission, pilot Russell Schweickart became the first astronaut to wear a portable life support system, emerging from the Lunar Module Spider and declaring, “Hey, this is like spectacular!”—a phrase that perfectly captures the wonder, bravery, and spirit of discovery behind this whisky.
To mark this extraordinary event, The Whisky Barrel selected a single first fill Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead, distilled in 2010 and bottled in April 2021. Just 306 individually numbered bottles were released, making this a rare and highly collectible expression, exclusive to The Whisky Barrl.
