NEW SCOTCH: We have a fantastic, rare new whisky in stock. Ever heard of Garnheath Distillery? Probably not. Only producing whisky for 21 years between 1865 to 1986 before being demolished in 1988, whisky from this Lost Scottish Distillery is very hard to come by. Our friends at Independent bottling company Morrison & MacKay have released a very limited 41 year single grain bottling and we LOVE it. We had a wee taste and you can read our blog here: https://www.thewhiskybarrel.co.uk/blog/post/tasting-garnheath This one is rather special! Strathisla 1953 vintage Speyside single malt Scotch whiskey. Matured in a sherry butt #1614 and bottled 21st November 2012 by Gordon & MacPhail.

AROMA WITHOUT WATER: Defined Christmas cake notes - Sherry and rich brown sugar. A delicate hint of charred oak with a hint of aged leather lingers.

TASTE WITHOUT WATER: Sherry influences - sweet, smooth and well rounded. Some stewed fruits and a touch of almonds - marzipan.

AROMA WITH WATER: Fresh and fragrant. Lighter Christmas cake influences. A touch of creme brulee and vanilla emerges.

TASTE WITH WATER: Some subtle charred wood influences - sweet and very smooth. Creamy with a hints of nuts.

Strathisla

Strathisla Distillery was founded in 1786 and is one of the oldest working distilleries in Scotland. Strathisla Distillery was built on the site of a brewery on the banks of the River Isla in Scotland’s Speyside whisky region. Now equipped with two pagoda roofs over the old malt kilns, classical stone walls and slate roofs, a water wheel now catching your gaze from the front wall and pulling you into the splendid heather garden of this iconic Scottish distillery. Strathisla Distillery welcomes visitors at the distillery visitor centre where tours of the distillery are available. Strathisla Distillery participates in the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.
