Annandale Distillery. Established in 1836 and closing in 1918, this lowland distillery reopened it's doors and sprung back into action in 2014 producing scotch whisky after a 90 year break. Traditional chimney stack and pagoda roof, tie in the history of the buildings with the impressive, modern redevelopment. The Washbacks and Stills share an open plan room. Clean, crisp and bright room is in contrast to many darker, dustier and settled distillery counterparts. The Mash Tun. Where the grain and the water meet and mingle. This is where heating this mixture produces the sugars from the broken down barley grain's starch. English Whisky Chapter 13 single malt whiskey distilled at St George's Distillery, England. Limited release of 1,300 bottles.

Nose: Sweet and spiced with a gentle waft of smoke. Roast gammon with a marmalade glaze. Warm pastry, a bit like an egg custard tart with grated nutmeg. Hints of dark chocolate, mocha, and dark cherries. For those that fondly remember their school dinners, toffee cream tart!! Yummy!

Palate: Creamy and slightly buttery with notes of vanilla and toffee. Sweet, spicy, malty and oaky. Tropical fruits but also a hint of that 70’s classic Black Forest Gateau! Again, toffee cream tart. Long malty finish which runs from sweet to spicy and then dry.

St George’s (England)

St. George’s Distillery is situated at Roudham, between Cambridge and Norwich in Norfolk, England  Opened at the end of 2006 and the first distillery in England to produce malt whisky in over a hundred years. St. George’s Distillery is equipped with two copper stills and water is extracted from an aquifer deep beneath the distillery. Around thirteen barrels of St. George’s spirit are produced per week, just one more than Edradour which is one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland. Both peated and unpeated malt whisky is being matured and bottled at St. George’s Distillery.
