Malted barley is dried with peat and Juniper smoke at Mackmyra Distillery and a small proportion of the new spirit matured in Swedish oak casks. \u003c\/span\u003eCommercial production commenced \u003cspan\u003eat Mackmyra Distillery\u003c\/span\u003e in 2002 and casks have been laid to rest at a number of unusual sites including an old mine, on a tiny island and in a castle. The first Mackmyra Swedish single malt whisky was released in 2006.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003c!-- pagebreak --\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe nose is fruity with citrus, pear, apple, honey, light oak with hints of lightly toasted bread and fresh, buttery caramel. The flavour is fruity and subtle, with citrus, caramel and honey. A light hint of oak can be noted at the end.
