In 1889 Charles C. Doig was commissioned by Dailuaine Distillery to design a new roof for its malt kiln and the commission resulted in the very first Doig pagoda roof being installed at Dailuaine Distillery. The design proved successful, was rapidly adopted by other distilleries and nowadays it is the iconic symbol of Scotland’s traditional malt whisky distilleries.
