The distillery is situated north-west of Chichibu city close to the Arakawa River on the main island of Honsh? and resting at an altitude of 240 meters in the foothills of the Chichibu Mountains. Chichibu Distillery is a very wee malt whisky distillery equipped with five small Japanese oak washbacks and just two small stills. Spirit is filled into a range of casks including Japanese Oak (\u003ci\u003eQuercus mongolica\u003c\/i\u003e) and matured in warehouses at the distillery. There are plans to malt Japanese barley on Chichibu’s own malting floors, to use local peat in the kiln furnace and a bottling plant at the distillery is planned.
