Whilst distillation was probably in progress as early as 1749 Balblair malt whisky distillery was officially established in 1790 when most things were moved by manpower and gravity. Then a short move and into new buildings situated right beside Ederton railway station in 1894 to connect to the whisky blenders down south. Balblair is a fantastic Scottish Highland malt distillery, stone built and slate roofed, which has retained its round red brick chimney, single pagoda roof and dunnage warehouses.
