NEW SCOTCH: We have a fantastic, rare new whisky in stock. Ever heard of Garnheath Distillery? Probably not. Only producing whisky for 21 years between 1865 to 1986 before being demolished in 1988, whisky from this Lost Scottish Distillery is very hard to come by. Our friends at Independent bottling company Morrison & MacKay have released a very limited 41 year single grain bottling and we LOVE it. We had a wee taste and you can read our blog here: https://www.thewhiskybarrel.co.uk/blog/post/tasting-garnheath This one is rather special! Highland Park 17 Year Old 1996 vintage Orcadian Island single malt Scotch whiskey. Single refill hogshead #10230 bottled April 2014 by Douglas Laing for the Old Particular range.

Nose: Detect honey – barley sugar sweetness & a later clean, spiced, ozone style.
Palate: Distinctly peated now + a salty quality & then catch more honey sweetness.
Finish: Rather spicy – with a light camphor touch & a gristy dryness.

Highland Park

Highland Park Distillery is the most northerly malt whisky distillery in Scotland  and the closest Scottish distillery to the Arctic Circle. Highland Park was established in 1798 and is one of the few Scottish distilleries which continues to malt barley on its own traditional malting floors and to use locally cut peat from Hobbister Moor in its malt kiln. The distillery visitor centre welcomes visitors and offers distillery tours.
