The Glenrothes’ ‘Malt Master’ John Ramsay who retired in July 2009 identified a parcel of second fill American oak sherry casks from 1973 to 1987 which have now been married together and very gradually reduced in strength but not chill-filtered.
This spectacular limited edition of only 1,400 bottles (only 100 for the UK) will stand as John’s legacy to The Glenrothes. Each bottle is individually numbered.
Dark chocolates, blood oranges and vanilla. Bursts of oak and citrus with a rich, long finnish.
Glenrothes Single Malt Whiskey
Glenrothes Distillery was established in the narrow valley of the Rothes Burn on the west side of Rothes in the Speyside whiskey region by James Stuart & Co. in 1878. This is a large malt whiskey distillery owned by Berry Bros & Rudd of London, with eighteen washbacks, ten copper stills singing in their own mighty cathedral and has retained its traditional pagoda roof. Popular distillery releases include Glenrothes 1995, 1998 and Glenrothes Peated.
