NEW BLOG: We visited the brand new Isle of Harris Distillery last week as they celebrated their official grand opening. Today, they open to the public. And we can vouch for it being a fantastic new distillery and very welcoming to visitors. Can't wait for the whisky to roll out of here in a few years. Glenfarclas 'Speyside's Finest' 46 Year Old Speyside single malt Scotch whiskey. 1967 vintage single sherry butt bottled November 2013 by Hunter Laing & Co. for the Old & Rare series. 192 bottles.

This rich dark golden whisky has a full bodied robust nose, sweet rich fruits marinated in sherry,Christmas pudding.Initially sweet to taste mellow with sultanas and raisins giving a depth of body with sherry notes. The finish is long and sweet with the sherry fruits at beginning and a sherry wood note appearing later.

Glenfarclas Distillery was established by Robert Hay in Speyside in 1836. John Grant purchased Glenfarclas in 1865 and it has remained in the ownership of the Grant family ever since. The interior of the visitor centre is stunning, the walls are lined with the original oak panels salvaged from a lounge on the liner SS Empress of Australia when she was scrapped 1952. Ace sherry casks underpin the ethos of Glenfarclas malt whisky, having released its first cask strength single malt way back in 1968 and in 1973 became the third to open a distillery visitor centre. Glenfarclas Distillery participates in the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.
