Annandale Distillery. Established in 1836 and closing in 1918, this lowland distillery reopened it's doors and sprung back into action in 2014 producing scotch whisky after a 90 year break. Traditional chimney stack and pagoda roof, tie in the history of the buildings with the impressive, modern redevelopment. The Washbacks and Stills share an open plan room. Clean, crisp and bright room is in contrast to many darker, dustier and settled distillery counterparts. The Mash Tun. Where the grain and the water meet and mingle. This is where heating this mixture produces the sugars from the broken down barley grain's starch. From 'porridge' to a hot sugary liquid called Wort, this is drained and collected where it then moves to the wash-backs for fermentation. #scotch #whisky #lowland #whiskey #lostdistillery #founddistillery #annandale #distillerytour RT @isleofislay: The Islay Daily Newspaper is out! https://t.co/aStAyOvbdW #islay #news Stories via @ScotsMagazine @WhiskyBarrel @Netweather

Glendronach 21 year old Parliament Highland single malt Scotch whiskey. Matured in Oloroso and Pedro Ximinez sherry casks, and takes its name from the ‘parliament’ of rooks that have been nesting in the trees overlooking the distillery for almost 200 years.

Nose: A delicate mix of ripe autumnal fruits - notably blackberries and red plums. Rich Oloroso sherry and candied orange segments. Spiced oatmeal biscuits and toasted oak fragrances bring excellent weight and balance.

Palate: Resolute flavours of fine Oloroso sherry and bitter chocolate sauce, which has been spread liberally over homemade plum pudding. This is all infused with fabulous spicy notes - cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. Full bodied with smooth tannins.

Glendronach Distillery is resplendent with a traditional cask iron mash tun, wooden washbacks, four stills matures its malt whisky in top quality sherry casks. Glendronach Distillery has a distillery visitor centre offering a range of distillery tours and the distillery participates is the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.
