Minimum Age Restrictions

We can only sell alcoholic beverages to customers who are at least 18 years of age. By placing an order with The Whisky Barrel you confirm that you meet the Minimum Legal Age for purchasing alcoholic beverages in your country of residence.

New Customers

If you are ordering from us for the first time we may choose to ship only to the cardholders address unless you activate cardholder password authentication on your card. For security reasons we may request additional proof of identify by email.


Orders must be settled in full before shipping. Payment can only be made online through this web site (we do not accept telephone orders) using VISA, MasterCard, American Express or Paypal. If you wish to pay by bank transfer please contact us for an invoice.

We encourage the use of 'Verified by Visa', 'MasterCard SecureCode' and American Express 'SafeKey'. This requires the cardholder to provide a personal password or pin number when paying for goods online with their credit card just as they would provide a pin on the high street. Cardholders can sign up to the service with their card provider at no cost and are reassured that their card is protected from fraudulent use on the internet. We may choose to reject Paypal orders where the transaction is not eligible for seller protection. Your order is encrypted and processed on a PCI compliant secure server. The Whisky Barrel does not store payment card information.

PayPal Refunds

We do not issue Paypal refunds for orders placed outside the EEA (European Economic Area), a credit note or gift voucher will be issued at our discretion.

Taxes & Duties

Products sold by the The Whisky Barrel are subject to United Kingdom taxation. Where we are dispatching goods to countries outside the EU (European Union) you will not be charged United Kingdom VAT (a consumption sales tax) by The Whisky Barrel but you may be subject to local import taxes. These additional charges and responsibilities must be borne by the importer or recipient. For further information about customs policies and charges in your country of residence please contact your local customs office. In the event the importer does not clear the consignment through Customs such as fulfilling import taxes or charges and the consignment is subsequently returned to The Whisky Barrel, we will refund the order minus our shipping fee.


Upon arrival in Canada our delivery agent may contact you to assist with progressing alcohol consignments through Canadian Customs. These additional charges and taxes must be borne by the importer. If you are unable to clear the consignment through Customs and the consignment is subsequently returned to The Whisky Barrel, we will refund the order minus our shipping fee. Please contact your local Province liquor board or commission if you need advice.

Shipping Information

All of our consignments are fully insured, include tracking and require a signature upon receipt. Where orders are being shipped to a reception or concierge for a residence, hotel, business, storage facility or similar, The Whisky Barrel accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage once it has been signed for. Please allow 1 working day to pick and pack your order. During busy seasons this can take a little longer. Please ensure the correct delivery address details are provided at the time of ordering. Any delivery issues that arise due to incorrect or incomplete address details are the responsibility of the cardholder. We offer fixed price domestic and international shipping costs based on size and weight. Subject to stock availability domestic mainland deliveries are shipped using a 2-3 day delivery courier and express service (Monday-Friday). Delivery to destinations outside the United Kingdom normally takes 2-3 business days, however during busy seasons this can take a little longer. Delivery times displayed on the web site are indicative only and are subject delays out with our control such as the weather, national holidays, stock movement, delays within the courier's network and customs delays.

If your order is returned to us due to non-delivery we will give you the option of re-shipping the goods (at your expense) or refunding your order less our shipping fee and any additional fees levied by our carrier to return the consignment to us.

We can hold customer's orders before shipping. If bottles are held for more than 10 days you will be charged a holding fee of $3 USD per bottle, per day. You must advise us once you have placed you order if you wish for it to be held.

Damages & Breakages

If your parcel is found to be damaged upon delivery please report this to the delivery driver immediately and then to The Whisky Barrel. In the event of any other delivery problems, including non-delivery, you must report this to The Whisky Barrel no later than 28 days after the date of shipping.


Where you have already received the goods, you have the right to cancel within 14 working days starting from the day after receiving the delivery. The goods must be returned to us unopened (sealed) together with the original invoice within 14-days of the agreed cancellation date. On receipt of the return we will refund the purchase in full to your payment card. The customer must arrange and pay for returning the goods including insurance. The Whisky Barrel will not be responsible for loss or damage in transit of the returned goods.


We strive to keep our stock control up to date and ensure the accuracy of stock content on the web site. Occasionally an item may be out of stock and/or discontinued - in such an eventuality we will inform you promptly, and may suggest an alternative. Product specifications and prices may change without notice. Product availability and prices listed on The Whisky Barrel Blog or our social media accounts, are accurate only at the time of writing and subject to change.

Rare & Collectable Bottles

These bottles are occasionally very old and as such the packaging and labels may not be in their original state. By submitting an order you confirm that you have understood this term. If you would like confirmation of the condition of individual products please contact us by email before placing an order and we will reply as quickly as possible. We do not buy private whisky collections.

The Whisky Barrel, Burns Malt, Burns Grain & The Scotch Office are registered trademarks of The Whisky Barrel (Scotland) Ltd.

All contents such as text, logos, photographs and other material displayed on The Whisky Barrel are protected by United Kingdom and international copyright laws. You may not extract any of the contents of the website without prior express written permission from The Whisky Barrel (Scotland) Ltd and Digital Six Ltd.

In the event that we identify, in commercial use, infringements of our intellectual property rights we will invoice the offending company or individual for the unauthorised use at our nominated rates. Names of other companies and products mentioned on The Whisky Barrel may also be the Trademarks of their respective owners.
