The world's oldest whisky 2.0 made it's debut this week; Gordon & MacPhail launched the second release of their Generations series, this time a 70 year old Glenlivet distilled during WWII on 3rd February 1940. Meanwhile back in the real world, Springbank's 2011 release schedule is underway with an 8 year old triple distilled Hazelburn bottled February 2011 having spent the past three years in Sauternes casks. Also, a couple of new WM Caidenhead bottlings of Caol Ila and Highland Park respectively, plus Douglas Laing present another 40-something single grain cask this time from Girvan distillery at Ailsa Bay and laid down in 1965.
