It’s not often a 50 year old Scotch comes along. So the chance to get hold of an exclusive, single cask 50 year old single cask Scotch whiskey for TWB is quite a coup! We are absolutely delighted to present, along with our chums at Hunter Laing, Strathclyde 50 Year Old 1969 Sovereign Single Grain #17254.
1969 Vintage From Glasgow
This exclusive single cask is special for many reasons. It’s a big vintage. A big age. Single cask. But its is also from distillery where official releases essentially don’t exist. Strathclyde whisky is sent off to the big blenders. So a single cask release from this distillery is an opportunity to taste a whiskey less travelled. And once again, it’s 50 years old!!
This is the oldest exclusive whisky we’ve had at TWB. Matured across 6 decades there is a lot to be found in this whiskey. Aged in a refill barrel the colour is a beautiful dark gold. Red berries, menthol and dark chocloate lead the nose. A lovely sweetness across the palate with apples, candy floss and toffee. A long finish with a mellow vanilla sweetness.
