Following on from our very popular, and very good, exclusive St Ola® Orcadian blended malt, we are back with another exclusive Orkney scotch whiskey. This time a single malt scotch bottled by our chums at Berry Bros & Rudd:- a company synonymous with quality spirits. And this Orkney single cask that we have exclusively selected is no different. So without further ado, we are delighted to bring to you our Orkney 15 Year old, 2002, Berry Bros Exclusive 56.8% Cask #3.
From Orkney Islands
We don’t need to beat around the bush too much here. We all know from which Orcadian distillery this comes from. Think HP sauce; Orkney’s main town, Kirkwall; St. Magnus Cathedral and you are thinking correctly. And as we always say, we STILL haven’t come across a Scapa cask. Furthermore, the whisky speaks for itself with a definitive character from this renowned scotch distillery. So what are the details? Well, just 180 bottles are available at cask strength 56.8%. Matured in a sherry butt #3 having been distilled in December 2002 and bottled 15 years later in 2018. All natural colour and no chill-filtration in sight. Proper scotch.
Usually we like to add our own notes but Berry’s have done a spot on job in our opinion.
“This sherry butt has archived the tricky balance of peat and sherry beautifully. Aromas of cigar box, leather and honey abound.
The palate delivers a near perfect orcadian whiskey, combining dried figs, dates and runes with peat smoke and complex floral notes.
The is superlative whiskey finishes with clove rock and more rich fruit.”
Couldn’t have said it better. This Orkney whisky brings in all the elements of peatiness, sweetness, rough, smooth, fresh and musky in perfect harmony. Class.
At 15 year old, cask strength, single cask and approx £80gbp, this is a scotch whiskey to take a closer look at.
