24 Days of Holiday Spirits – Day 12 – Balblair 1990 2nd Edition

Can you believe there are only thirteen days to go until the big ‘Ho-Ho-Ho’? And we still have plenty of great whiskey and gin gift ideas to share with you.

Today we have the ‘Spirit of Whisky Fringe Award 2016’ and ‘International Wine and Spirits Competition 2016 Gold Outstanding Award’ winning single malt Scotch whiskey from Balblair.

Balblair was originally established by John Ross at Balblair Farm by the southern shore of the Dornoch Firth. Distillation probably began as early as 1749. In 1894 the distillery moved into the new buildings next to Ederton railway station. The distillery has retained its round red brick chimney, single pagoda roof and dunnage warehouses.

Tasting notes

The Balblair 1990 2nd Edition has a spicy aroma with notes of raisins, toffee and honey. On the palate the malt is full bodied and sweet with hints of zesty fruits and spice. The finish is smooth and long lasting. Another winter warmer!
