Tomatin 12 Year Old Burns Malt – Exclusive

We’ve just launched a new batch of Burns Malt™ Scotch whiskies, and so we thought it best to catch up with our most recent release, a Tomatin 12 Year Old distilled May 2001 and bottled May 2013 having matured in a fresh sherry hogshead.

Tomatin Distillery sits in the Monadhliath Mountains near Inverness, and at 315m above sea level is one of the highest working distilleries in Scotland.

Tomatin is consistently producing high quality, award-winning Highland malt whisky. A major reason for this success is the great importance being placed on maturation in the best oak casks, well supported by its own on-site cooperage. Over the past couple of decades an increasing proportion of Tomatin spirit has been filled into ex-sherry casks. Here at The Whisky Barrel we could not resist the opportunity to add a ‘very-sherry’ Tomatin from a first fill sherry hogshead to our Burns Malt range. Don’t just take our word for it, check out Pierre of Whiskey Marketplace rating this terrific dram…
