Single cask (number 1301) vintage Port Ellen for the 2008 Islay Festival and yielded approximately 220 bottles, each is individually numbered. The first ever single cask distillery bottling from Port Ellen.

Already a legend, the bottle was available at Caol-Ila Distillery and promptly sold out within hours on the day of release; some keen collectors even pitched up the night before. Which is almost as extraordinary as the price it changes hands for now.

Port Ellen

Port Ellen Distillery was established by Alexander K. Mackay on the southern coast of the Isle of Islay at Port Ellen in 1825. Port Ellen was a malt whisky distillery but closed in 1983 and whilst the distillery buildings remain Port Ellen drum maltings occupy part of the site and participates in the annual Islay Festival of Malt and Music. Most recent official bottling of Port Ellen single malt whisky was the Port Ellen 11th Release.
