Port Charlotte PC5 Evolution Islay single malt Scotch whiskey distilled at Bruichladdich distillery. A historic bottling, this first limited release – the vision of master distiller Jim McEwan – was distilled in 2001 and bottled 2006.
One of 6,038 individually numbered bottles making this, the 1st ever distillery bottling very collectable and increasingly sought after.
Medium weight, alive, muscular, power-packed. No extra sensory perception required, it’s 100% gale force Islay. A rediscovery of hand-made single malt – the way it used to be. All the aromas found on the nose are swept onto the palate with incredible peat-fire warmth, filling the heart with passion. It’s young whisky and old skills in absolute harmony; not for the feint-hearted
Port Charlotte (Bruichladdich)
Bruichladdich Distillery was established in 1881 on the Rhinns peninsular on the island of Islay close by the sandy bays of Loch Indaal. Bruichladdich Distillery re-opened in 2001 with much of the original Victorian equipment restored to working order. The first release of Bruichladdich’s new whisky was the highly acclaimed PC5, the first release in the limited Port Charlotte range. Bruichladdich also produces very highly peated Octamore, Organic using Islay grown barley, and triple and quadruple distilled single malts whiskies. The Bruichladdich Distillery visitor centre welcomes visitors and offers distillery tours including the bottling hall, and the distillery participates in Feis Ile the annual Islay Festival of Malt and Music.
