Nikka Coffey Malt Japanese malt whiskey. Distilled mainly from corn in a Coffey still.
Nikka operates two Coffey stills (named after its inventor Aeneas Coffey) within the Miyagikyo distillery.
Nikka Coffey Malt is the result of a unique distillation process in “Coffey” type column stills, which are normally used for grain whisky production. This rare 100% malt bottling offers a surprisingly rich texture.
The Coffey still is named after its inventor Aeneas Coffey. In 1830, the French-born Irishman perfects this technique, which would become widely adopted by the Scots for the production of blends, allowing them to surpass Ireland as a whisky producing nation.
