Laphroaig Quarter Cask Islay single malt Scotch whiskey takes its inspiration from the small casks often used for Scotch Whisky maturation in the 19th century.
Double cask matured, first in oak barrels, then for a final period in specially commissioned Quarter Casks, as used two centuries ago. The result is a soft velvety sweetness, followed by intense peatiness so unique to Laphroaig.
Soft sweetness and velvety feel when first tasted. The finish is very long and alternates between the wood sweetness and the classic phenolic peat reek.
Laphroaig Distillery was established in 1815 on the rocky south coast of the Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland. Laphroaig is a malt whisky distillery which continues to malt barley using its traditional malting floors and malt kiln. In 1994 Laphroaig was awarded the Royal Warrant. Visitors are welcomed at the Laphroaig Distillery visitor centre where distillery tours are available. Laphroaig Distillery participates in Feis Ile, the Islay Festival of Malt and Music.
