Description
A limited edition of 1,392 bottles released to much fanfair in 2006 exclusive to distillery Committee Members. A vatting of three bourbon hogsheads of Very Young Ardbeg married with one sherry butt of 2002 Ardbeg.
Distillery: Ardbeg
Ardbeg is generally peaty, rich, smooth and very complex. Sweet malt, sea salt, dried fruits and rich Islay peat reek. Subject to closures, most recent reopening was 1998; the new 10 year old will be unveiled in 2008.
Tasting Notes
The youthful vigour and peaty, gristy flavour of the Very Young Ardbeg casks bring spicy, chocolaty notes with hints of sea spray and smokiness. This is tamed by a subtle sweetness from the 2002 sherry butt, with hints of sweet toffee, treacle and pear drops.
