Description
Corryvreckan takes its name from the famous whirlpool that lies to the north of Islay. Corryvreckan is a deliciously deep, powerfully peaty and wonderfully wild whisky.
Distillery: Ardbeg
Ardbeg is generally peaty, rich, smooth and very complex. Sweet malt, sea salt, dried fruits and rich Islay peat reek. Subject to closures, most recent reopening was 1998; the new 10 year old will be unveiled in 2008.
Tasting Notes
Heady, intense and powerful. Swirl the glass and dip your nose into the torrents of tarry ropes, creosote and linseed oil. Torrents of taste well up on the palate; deep, peppery and chewy, bombarding the tongue with its intense tastes and textures. Long, deep and remaining powerful into the finish with black tarry coffee, chocolate coated cherries and hot pepper sauce.
