Ardbeg is generally peaty, rich, smooth and very complex. Sweet malt, sea salt, dried fruits and rich Islay peat reek. Subject to closures, most recent reopening was 1998; the new 10 year old will be unveiled in 2008.

Tasting Notes

Nose starts sweet, warms to barely, tails to peat. The palate is heavily and sweetly phenolic, now tarry/creosoted. The finish is sweet with soft tar, plus light smoke n' spice.
