Ardbeg 17 Year Old, Rare Islay Whisky
Description
Once a staple in the Ardbeg catalogue this increasingly rare whisky is full of character.
Distillery: Ardbeg
Ardbeg is generally peaty, rich, smooth and very complex. Sweet malt, sea salt, dried fruits and rich Islay peat reek. Subject to closures, most recent reopening was 1998; the new 10 year old will be unveiled in 2008.
Tasting Notes
The gentlest of peats, yet deep and confident with an enticing sweetness – a heady mixture of malts and vanillins. Vaguely salty and very complex with the oak present but very much in harness.
