Description
World Whisky of the Year 2009. A mix of predominantly bourbon matured and some rare sherry matured Ardbeg resulting a delicious well balanced, peaty, intense dry smoke and fruity single malt that explodes in the mouth.
Distillery: Ardbeg
Ardbeg is generally peaty, rich, smooth and very complex. Sweet malt, sea salt, dried fruits and rich Islay peat reek. Subject to closures, most recent reopening was 1998; the new 10 year old will be unveiled in 2008.
Tasting Notes
Full flavoured and rich with a deep mouth-coating texture, the taste is an intriguing balance between sweet, spicy and deep smoky flavours. Amazingly long and chewy with lingering raisiny, deep mocha tones and rich aromatic smoke into the perfectly integrated finish.
